  FRANCESCO  RUSPOLI

Born in 1958, Francesco started out by translating his subconscious onto a blank canvas. Following an impressive start at the Bastion St André (France), he went on to present his work in Salons and galleries at Cannes, Deauville, Lyon, Paris, London, Barcelona, Glasgow and many other International cities.         In 1986, Francesco was chosen to submit two works for the highly competitive AUTUMN SALON at the Grand Palais in Paris, from which he was contacted by the ATLANTE GALLERY, where he was offered a two-year contract of representation.

During this time with the ATLANTE GALLERY Francesco was approached by the PHOENIX GALLERY in Lavenham, which brought him to England where he presented his first one man show.

Inspired by his new surroundings, Francesco moved towards a new style of working stimulated by the discovery of artists such as Francis Bacon, Lucien Freud, Frank Auerbach, Leon Kossoff and the Scottish School of Art.

His work frequently places the human figure in an abstract environment which, through a vivid use of colour might provoke a range of responses and feelings in the viewer.

" Art is about sharing visual ideas.

My canvas may not have a front or a back cover, but I try with each study, each performance, to present a work to be read rather than stared at. If through my work as an artist I am able to stimulate thoughts and feelings then I feel I have achieved my goal."
